Week 2 Day 10 Activities By Ashleigh

Day 10 – School Days
After meeting with the local family yesterday you are inspired to learn more about how people live in different countries. You and your family decide to go out and visit a local market. When you’re there you meet a student who tells you all about what it’s like to go to school in their country. The student also gives you a page from their diary that shows you what a typical school day is like for them.

Activity 1
Think about your school and what you typically do in a day. Compare it with the diary from the German student. What is similar? What is different? In your blog, tell us:
  1. Whether you would rather go to school in New Zealand or in Germany - New Zealand
  2. Why you feel that way - Because we got more break time and we don't have that much blog to go through.
Activity 2
Think about your favourite subject at school. In your blog tell us:
  1. The name of your favourite subject- Breakthrough
  2. Why it is your favourite subject- Because you can get into your group make something together.
Bonus Activity
Once you have looked at the other school diary, it is time for you to make one of your own. What do you in a normal school day? Use the template below as a guide and post your own personal ‘Day in the Life of…’

  1. Wow Ashleigh,

I really liked your thinking of not making a new one. And I should have done breakthrough but instead I did writing and forgot about breakthrough. Great job

    1. Hi Mr Barlow!

I did some bottle charms and lots of design at home or on our free time.

    2. Very cool! Sounds fun! I made a Christmas tree decoration out of wool with some students the other day. It was pretty fun.

  5. Hi Ashleigh, Mark and Shanya,

I love the sound of 'Breakthrough' time. It is great to know that you're able to explore your individual interests and work together to create new things. I love working with my colleagues on projects, too!

I see from your blog, Ashleigh, that you'd rather study here in New Zealand than in Germany. You are right to note that we have more break time during the day, however we finish up two hours later than the students in Germany. They go to school until 1:00 p.m. in the afternoon and then have the entire afternoon off. I think that I would quite like having the entire afternoon to do my own thing, although I might grow a little bit bored if I wasn't able to get together with friends.

I will have to ask my friends from Germany what they did in the afternoons, once school was finished. I wonder if they got together and played or went home by themselves and spent time with their families...

I hope that you'll continue learning more about Germany and sharing your ideas with us.

    Cheers!

    Rachel :)
