Pativai's Activity 1

Activity One

After you have read the quick facts about each place you must choose ONE country that you would like to ‘visit.’ On your blog post the name of the country and tell us why you have chosen to visit it. Please give, at least, two reasons for choosing the country.

I have chosen to go with Australia because it has a great tropical vibe to it, and also they have their own kind of twist in sports, although I love sports I still love the way that new Zealand play's but in Australia it is great to learn new things . I have also been to Australia for a sporting event for my sister and we stayed with heaps of family members and we stayed in Brisbane for two tournaments in wakaama then drove to Melbourne for a relaxation time.

I did actually know that Australia has six states but what I did not know was that they had a gem called the opal gem. Australia is a great place and I know that some family members stay in Sydney so sometimes I learn some things from them, and since my grandparents had taken recent trips there I learn a couple things from them too.

  1. Hi Pativai!

Welcome to the Summer Learning Journey programme. I am thrilled that you have joined us. This is awesome :)

I really enjoyed reading all about your experiences in Australia. It sounds like you are quite familiar with the country having spent time in Brisbane and in Melbourne. Which of the two cities did you prefer? I've had the chance to spend time in Brisbane (we have family there) but I've never been to Melbourne. Is it worth a trip?

I hope that you will continue to blog with us and to share such interesting posts. I have already learned quite a bit about Australia from reading your blog post. For example, I did not know that they have a gem called an 'opal gem.' I have seen opals before but I'm not sure if they were originally from Australia...

Keep up the great work, Pativai :)

    All the best,

    Rachel

  2. Kia ora Pativai!

I'm Mark - a teacher working on the summer learning journey programme with Rachel! I am stoked that you chose Australia as your country because I once lived there for 9 months! I lived on the Gold Coast in a place called Burleigh Heads! It's so cool that you have lots of family over there! Have you seen a snake or any of those golden orb spiders? I remember seeing lots of fruit bats at sunset, they're so big!

Opals are amazing gems aren't they? Just beautiful. I look forward to reading more of your blog posts and I hope you're having a great holiday!!

    Kia kaha,

    Mark
