Charlie's W1 D2 A2

Activity 2
One of the most popular activities in Madrid, the capital city of Spain, is called ‘Bullfighting.’ It has been a part of Spanish culture for centuries. In bullfighting people called ‘toreros and ‘matadors’ fight with a live bull. The toreros do most of the fighting and, ultimately, capture the bull and tie it up. Once it has been caught, the matador joins the fight and kills the bull. Although most toreros and matadors are men, there are some women who also compete in the sport.
Not everyone supports bullfighting in Spain. In fact, about 30% of the population want it to be banned (stopped) completely. What do you think? On your blog tell us whether or not you think that bullfighting should be banned in Spain. Please provide, at least, two reasons to support your decision.

I agree that bullfighting should be banned because I think when they are waving the flag of whatever it is, I personally think that this is teasing the bulls and even though some people are afraid because of their big horns that does not mean that the bull should be treated like that. Did they ever think of asking the bull before they pull them out of there own habitat. I also thing that this is a very dangerous this because when they make the bull aggressive It will charge and may hurt you. That is why I think that bullfighting should be banned.

  2. Hi Charlie,

Here is the link to Ashleighs one http://parkeronair.blogspot.co.nz/2016/12/week-1-day-2-activity-2-by-ashleigh.html and I 100% agree that it should be banned, but it seems you may not know that the matadors actually kill the bull in the end as well (in quite a mean and painful way too), which is something that you would never see in New Zealand because we have livestock protection laws.

I left a comment on Ashleighs as well asking her an interesting question. I wonder if you could both answer it for me.

    Keep up the great work!

  3. Hi Charlie,

I really love that you have thought so carefully about this question. It is a difficult question as bullfighting is very popular in Spain but, as you have noted, it is also very dangerous. Like you, I also believe that bullfighting should be banned. The bulls are often gravely injured and/or killed during the matches and the matadors can also put themselves at great risk of being hurt.

I see that Mark has posted a cool question on Ashleigh's blog. I'm going to check it out. I hope that you have time to respond to it as well :)

Awesome blogging, Charlie. Keep it up!

    Cheers,
    Rachel
