This week we had to write an explanation about a tsunami and find out lots about tsunami, we learned lots of things and put it all together into a explanation.

Writing:Explanation of a tsunami

A tsunami is a japanese word for tidal (harbour) wave. A harbour wave is when a big wave appears than normal waves.

The tsunami is normally created by energy from underwater when either a volcanic eruption, underwater landslide, meteorite, eruption or when a nuclear bomb happens.

When an underwater landslide happens the energy from the movement goes up and gives the wave the energy and that’s how the wave gets big  and turns into a tsunami, Also another way a tsunami can get cause by is a nuclear explosion,  But there are more ways that a tsunami can created by. After the tsunami most things near the harbour would have been destroyed and drowning everything with the harbour.

So when  tsunami is coming you should be ready to leave your house and move to higher ground, normally the things you need to do with your family is learn about where to evacuate the house, listen to the radio and pack lots of needed equipment.

Tsunami

Tsunami means horrible wave in Japan because it can crash all the things and it can also wash over lots of thing and wash the people away. Tsunami can travel very fast it can reach speeds more than 700 km per hour.

How it is formed🌊? Tsunami is come from undersea earthquake undersea island slide, nuclear bomb, undersea volcanic eruption (The lava is come from the center of the Earth) and meteorite if one of those thing happened it will push the wave into Tsunami. Tsunami can make the seashell crash into people’s body.In 1946 there was an Nankai earthquake it made a tsunami in Japan.

What is tsunami warning signs⚠? Tide goes out quickly, warning siren, broadcast and tsunami warning buoy,  You can also watch TV or listen to the radio to know the tsunami is close to the land, if you live close the the sea you can see the tide goes out quickly or the tsunami warning buoy. If you know the tsunami is coming you better to go to the high ground or the place where not close to the sea. If you went to the safe place you need to stay away until you are told it is safe to return home and you also can learn about the tsunami risk in your area.

What can tsunami make🌊? Tsunami can make lots of damaged and wash the foods away, muddy watery land and water supplies. The tsunami break the roads so it’s hard to bring the people in the hospital, the people who work in hospital need to help the people who get hurt.

This is the information about tsunami if the tsunami is near the land you better to plan an evacuation route from your home, school or work to higher ground.

A Tsunami is formed by a large amount of water that becomes an unusual wave. Tsunamis can wash away a large amount of land and lives.

How is a Tsunami formed?

Tsunami’s can be caused by a nuclear explosion, eruption, landslides, earthquakes and meteorite. So when one of those things happen it sends a vibration of energy through the water, then as it get closer to land it rises taller but it starts to reduce its speed. The giant wave moves more slower as it gets to land because the water depth is lower so it can’t draw as much water as it did in the deep ocean water. Then it will slowly approach land, then CRASH it hits land!

What are the warning signs?

There is a siren that will send a loud ring to warn people to get to higher land. The warning buoy is to tell the shipperman that there might be a Tsunami coming. The tide will go in at a large amount of water, this can be useful if you are at the beach, because will be able to see the water. There is also another warning signal if you are watching TV, the broadcast. There is also a seismographs that scientist use to detect an underwater earthquake that could or would cause a tsunami to be formed. Families that live closer to shore are warned as soon it could happen, because they are the closest to the tsunami. Sometimes animals will act unusual.

How much damage is caused?

There is many damage that can be caused by the powerful Tsunami. Tsunamis lead to DEATH as well. Tsunamis can also destroy your crops, which makes survival nearly impossible, Tsunamis also take away fresh water from everything in its path, so you won't be able to use your tap in the next few days. The tsunami makes it even more harder to escape, because the roads, grass and motorways will be scraped of land like a giant lawnmower! Nearly everything in a tsunamis way is crushed or destroyed into big and tiny pieces by the force of the water.

There are some ways you could stay safe like learning about tsunamis and packing a survival kit containing things that you might need to stay safe.The are how a Tsunami can be formed, The warning signs and how much damage can be caused. This is a writing about what is a Tsunami.
