Letter to John Key by Shanya

For writing we had to write a letter to john key for the flag referendum. First we had to complete a Y chart, on the Y chart it says "What I know." "What I think." and "I wonder." Then we had to write the letter that the teachers have given us (Template).

Dear John Key,

My name is Shanya. I am a year 5 girl at Stonefields school. I think that we should change our flag.

My first reason is that us, and Australia only have a difference by one star on their flag. There are so many countries in the commonwealth that don’t have the union jack, but their are only 4 more countries including us that do have the union jack.

Secondly, by changing the flag people don't  get confused between our flag and Australia’s flag. The new flag is much more unique than our current flag, because what is the difference between Australia's and ours that really shows.

Thirdly I wonder the impact on people when we change the flag. I also wonder about how many dislike or like the new flag.

Yours Sincerely
Shanya R

Faith's postcard for Reaching Ray's Rock

In this graph it shows Dean's feelings from the start of the story to the end of the story. At first he felt confident but when his Dad said to him that the weather was bad his confidence began to go away. Then he felt really worried but when he was half way up the mountain his confidence came back but he fell down. When he got back up he pushed him self and started to say chants to keep his confidence up. When they had reached the top of the mountain he was very proud and that was the end of the story.

Charlie's Reaching Rays Rock

This Is My Post card To Dean from the story Reaching Rays Rock. This post card from Deans dad to Dean.

And underneth that is how he was feeling over time in the book.

At the Being of the story it is up because he does dont know about the thunder storm. Then its hits the unsure emotion because it is up to dean to decide wether they should turn back or not. Then it goes down to Scared and worried beacase he falls down in the snow and hits himself on a rock that is siting on the ground. Try reading the story to figure out the rest of the points on this drawing.

This graph shows what Dean is feeling over time. When it goes down the first time it was because he had reached the snow line and it got very deep. When it goes down the second time he has to make a decision whether they carry on or they go back but Dean chose to carry on. When it goes up that's when Dean asked for a photo but Dad said no. The last part when it goes down is when Dean gets knocked of his feet and when it goes up for the very last time is when they made it to rays rock.

This graph show's how Dean was feeling during his time climbing the mountain such as when the circles are up it means he was safe but when it was down it means he was worried and the middle means he was unsure. When it was above the unsure he felt happy and he wanted to take a photo. But when he fell he felt worried that he would get hurt.
